Promoting Responsible and Healthy Behaviors
MSI will support adolescents and youth to have the ability and agency to access comprehensive sexuality education and reproductive health information and services in a way that best suits their needs. MSI seeks to promote responsible and healthy SRH behaviours, both preventive and treatment-seeking, among youth aged between 15 and 24 years to protect and manage their SRH risks. We established both static centre-based and outreach initiatives to raise awareness of SRH issues and engage with young people. At the same time, our youth SRH promoters and volunteers and social media engagement reach out to youth communities beyond our centers and provide comprehensive sexuality education which aims to equip youth with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values that will empower them to realize their health and well-being. We also work closely with parents, authorities, and gatekeepers to raise awareness of youth SRH issues and support in developing for enabling environment for youth empowerment.
Youth Friendly Spaces
MSI provides a comfortable, friendly space for young people called the youth centre. Our Youth Centers are safe spaces where young people can gather, socialize and most importantly have opportunities to discuss reproductive health issues. Our centers are equipped with libraries, indoor games, and recreational facilities for young people. In addition to health discussion, we also host a variety of edutainment activities, health talks and events where youth can participate and learn on SRH. In addition, youth can consult any health and social issues with youth counselor at youth centres and be able to access youth-friendly health services at MSI clinic as needed.
Accurate, Appropriate, Accessible
Access to youth-friendly SRH information is vital but there are few opportunities to engage with accurate, appropriate information that is relevant to young people’s needs. We design our communications to cater to the specific needs and interests of young people. Our youth SRH promoters and volunteers are trained to provide comprehensive sexual education in a dynamic and engaging way.
